Library

The school Library was completely refurbished in 2007 and includes a technology station to enhance curriculum-based research projects on all grade levels.

Each week, for forty minutes, students from Nursery through eighth grade visit the school library.

Schedule

Nursery, Pre-K, Kindergarten Story Time and Songs
1-2 Story Time – small chapter books
3-4 Read plays together, learn how the Library works
5-6 Read chapter books over several weeks
7 Classroom Projects/Assignments that require research
8 Study period – projects

Our library is a place where the children can borrow books and read without any disturbances. Our reference material ranges from encyclopedias, and atlases, to almanacs.  Nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten visit our library for story time. Students in Grades 1-4 can borrow books and are assisted in research projects. Students in Grades 5-8 can use our library computers, which are linked via high-speed connection to the Internet to facilitate their research projects.

We continue to receive excellent new books donated by the publishers and parents. In addition, we receive a grant from New York State, which will be used to purchase reference books. These reference books will help to expand our children’s reading abilities. We ask the students to submit a review of the books they read during the summer and during the school year so we may expand the diversity of our books. These books will be shared with all of our students. The students may come to the library at any time with the permission of their teacher.

Cornela Cremin Morales, parent and graduate
“St. Sebastian School provides an excellent environment for a child to learn and grow into a productive member of the community. The staff is dedicated to making an impact in each child’s life. As a working mother, it is extremely comforting to have my daughter attend the after school program and the summer program with the same staff members that she feels comfortable and secure with during the school year.”
Lynn Cummings, parent
“The philosophy of St. Sebastian School has the right balance for my children. It is rooted in a traditional value system both academically and spiritually. The whole child is represented and taught love and respect for others.  St. Sebastian faculty know all the students by name. My children feel happy and secure here.”
Jeanne Martin, parent
