From the Pastor

Welcome to the website of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Parish School in Woodside, New York.
Our school is located close to the geographical center of New York City. For 75 years, this Catholic school has prepared young people from Woodside to move into leadership positions and service in the Church, national and local governments, medicine, education, finance, business, and untold other professions and walks of life. From this corner of Woodside, our graduates have made important contributions in every area of public and religious life. Each year, graduates of St. Sebastian are accepted into the finest Catholic and public high schools in New York City. Many of our graduates earn scholarships. All of them have been well prepared by the school’s rigorous academic program as well as the other aspects of school life that serve to produce well-rounded graduates.
The bedrock foundation and moral values that our school offers its students enables them to reach significant and rewarding achievements in high school and in later life. The religious formation and education that our students receive allows them to grow in their love for God and neighbor and in imitation of Jesus the teacher. The choice of an elementary school is critical for the future academic achievement of a young boy or girl; St. Sebastian School is an excellent choice.
I grew up in Woodside and attended the neighboring St. Theresa School. I know Woodside as an exciting, dynamic, and ethnically diverse community. I am especially proud to be the pastor of a parish with an elementary school where the principal, faculty, staff and parents collaborate in an open and healthy relationship for the growth and development of the school. I consider the school to be an asset to the parish in its work of evangelization as well as an anchor in our community. It is an institution that I enthusiastically and wholeheartedly support.
Sincerely in Jesus our brother,
Monsignor Michael J. Hardiman, M. Div., M.A., M.P.A.
